  The Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement (IPE) within the Department of State's Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs develops and implements policies to promote effective intellectual property rights (IPR) protection worldwide in close cooperation with other U.S. agencies and the private sector.
   
  The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is responsible for developing and coordinating U.S. international trade, commodity, and direct investment policy, and overseeing negotiations with other countries
   
  The U.S. Copyright Office is responsible for registering copyright claims.
   
  The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigates criminal counterfeiting, piracy, and other federal crimes.
   
  U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) keeps foreign pirated and counterfeit goods from being imported into the United States
   
  The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is responsible for granting and administering U.S. patents and trademarks.  Additionally, the USPTO provides information targeted to small and medium sized enterprises. 
   
  The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Computer Crimes and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS) is responsible for implementing DOJ’s national strategies in combating computer and intellectual property crimes worldwide.
   
  The National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center works to deter, interdict, and investigate threats arising from the movement of illegal goods into and out of the United States.
   
  The U.S. International Trade Commission investigates claims regarding intellectual property rights violations by imported goods, including allegations of patent and trademark infringement.
   
  The Office of Intellectual Property Rights of the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration works with U.S. firms to help them protect their intellectual property abroad.
   
  The Food and Drug Administration works with U.S. industry, consumers, and other stakeholders to protect against counterfeit drugs in the U.S. market.
   
  The IPR Training Coordination Group comprises U.S. government agencies and industry associations that provide IPR-related informational programs, training, and technical assistance to foreign officials and policy makers.
